Eduardo Eurnekian

Eduardo Eurnekian is an Argentine businessman who was born to immigrants from Armenia on December 4th 1932, in Buenos Aires.

Taking his first steps in the family-established textile industry, in the late 70s he diversified his interests into communications and media by taking over “Cablevision” (then a failing local cable TV station) and turning it into the largest TV cable operator in Argentina. He also held a controlling stake in “America TV”, four radio stations and a Buenos Aires financial daily, El Cronista.

The year 1998 marked the turning point for Eurnekian´s Corporación América developing into a global / multi business holding company. After taking over the management and control of 33 Airports in Argentina and various Cargo Terminals (under the brand Aeropuertos Argentina 2000), the holding expanded overseas and now runs 53 airports in all (in Brasil, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Italy and Armenia).

His holding has also invested strongly in Energy (Unitec Bio – biofuels, CGC – oil and gas company, Unitec Energy and Parque Eólico Carapé – windfarms), Infrastructure and road construction (Helport and Bioceanic Aconcagua Corridor, the project for a 53 km-long tunnel under the Andes connecting Chile and Argentina), Financial Services (Converse Bank in Armenia), AgriBusiness (Unitec Agro, vineyards and wineries in Patagonian Neuquén and Armenia).

In 2013 Mr. Eurnekian invested in yet another niche: semiconductors and microchips. Under the brand Unitec Blue and located 120 km from Buenos Aires, this nanotechnology plant is so far the one and only of its kind south of Mexico and is currently producing at large for the South American market. In early 2014, the Unitec Blue/nanotechnology branch of the Eurnekian Group expanded to Brazil, after buying a 33% stake in Six Semicondutores, now rebranded as Unitec and located in Minas Gerais.

Mr. Eurnekian is the chairman of the International Raoul Wallemberg Foundation, a member of the Executive Board of the International Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Argentine National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce.
